Merlot from Losone, along the river Maggia in Ticino, the Italian speaking region of southern Switzerland. This wine was aged in oak barrels for 12 months. The vineyard is located many feet above the river, and so the roots of the vines have to dig deep down into the ground to reach the water, forcing them to cross a layer of salt (from millions of years ago), influencing the cahracter of the wine.
Tasting Notes: The nose is intense and vigorous. The palate is slightly woody with dry plums, and also reflects a slightly salty character. A great Merlot. Pairing: Serve with red meat, pasta and barbecues. Color: red Varietal: Merlot Bottle Volume (ml): 750 Appellation: Ticino Producer Website:http://www.delea.ch/
